Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)

Building Bully Proof Kids

Why Should Kids Try BJJ?

Aside from the usual benefits of exercise for children such as improved fitness and strength, better motor skills and increased flexibility and balance, BJJ also offers children a range of mental, emotional and social benefits too. Because of the structured nature of our classes, they suit kids who can sometimes be timid or reluctant to socialise with other children and can help them improve their social skills in a safe and supportive environment. BJJ is also a great sport to help children build their self-esteem and confidence. In addition, it teaches them self-discipline and respect for others.

If you’re interested in giving your child extra confidence while reinforcing positive values like respect and self-discipline, our kids program could be a great option.

A confident child is a bully proof child

Every child experiences bullying, but not every one is equipped with the tools to overcome it. Our Kids program empowers children with the non-violent techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the verbal strategies to neutralise bullying before it spirals out of control.

What to expect?

We currently operate throughout the school term time.  During the summer holidays we carry on running our Saturday classes which all our Mat Monkey, Junior and Teen members can attend. Classes are separated into the following age groups:

  • 4-7 years (Mat Monkeys)
  • 8-11 years (Juniors)
  • 12-15 years (Teens)

At the beginning of your child’s first class, after the parents have filled in the forms, we bring your child into the class and pair them up with a more experienced student to look after them until they get used to the class. Every class begins with a warm up, a slightly longer one for the older children, before moving on to the techniques. The instructor and assistant instructors help the kids to practice the techniques on their own and in pairs. Towards the end of the class, the younger students play games and the older ones engage in controlled sparring which is monitored continually by the instructors.

How much is it?

We currently have a network insurance policy which will be included within the Joining Fee. All members of the Elements network are required to be insured for student to student cover. This will be validated from your first day of training and will be renewable every year. Subsequent yearly insurance renewal will be £30.
